CAP: 10 - 45mm. Another small member of the coprophilous inkcap group with a cap that is grey to creamy-pink in colour, ellipsoid-conical in shape before becommore expand and with a powdery veil. STIPE: White with a floccose surface that is easily removed. Brittle and rooted. GILLS/PORES: Gills are crowded and free. They start white before becoming black with age and eventually fully deliquescing. FLESH: Thin, watery and white. No taste or significant smell. SPORES: Black, limoniform in face view, ellipsoid when viewed side on. Measuring up to 12.5um by 8um and sporting a central germ pore. HABITAT: Found on cow dung. SEASON: Scattered and in places frequent. Found from late summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Inedible. |
